driving home for new
year blue but hopeful for the years
gone past and yet to come—

skyline, trees, headlights
smudged on night’s smeared-up palette
wiping all away
*******
in the wash and wake
of darkness blinded, dimmed by light
while morning’s stirring

Painterly and emotionally elemental.
Let’s hope the New Year stirs up some beautiful hues for all of us.
Thanks much, James and yes, let’s hope so
This has a greatness of depth under its seeming simplicity that is moving and beautiful
Thank you, Lina, I’m glad you like it
Cheers to health, happiness, and prosperity in 2022!
Thank you, Luisa, and likewise to you and yours!
In these words there is a balance created between positivity or optimism or light and negativity or pessimism or darkness, and perhaps that leads us on to a tipping point, for the future being contemplated:
“darkness blinded, dimmed by light” suggests that the tipping point may lead to light, which this reader assumes to be a positive attribute, in contrast to the (also necessary) darkness.
Thank you, Lars and yes, the balance is (arguably 🙃) all.
